“ Very small Mexican place on the outskirts of downtown Highlands. Very busy on a Monday night, had about a 15 minute wait to be seated. It's pretty limited seating inside. They do have a couple tables on the front deck but it was way too cold to eat outside. Our party enjoyed our meals. Chips & Salsa, Queso and Fajitas were excellent. Would return. ”
“ Had a delicious, fresh meal here last night. My son had the shrimp soup which was amazing. As good as the food was, was that the service provided to us by Michelle was even better. Can’t wait to go back again. ”
“ We really enjoyed this restaurant. It felt like a family place with authentic tasting food. The salsa had an especially unique smoky flavor with some fruit in it, too. It was probably the best salsa I've ever had. Not too spicy or sweet. Just right. My sister had a chicken burrito, which she finished because it was so delicious, but it was very filling! I had a veggie burrito with no dairy which I was able to get two servings out of. There were a lot of vegetables and they were cooked well, not too soft and not greasy at all. The rice was soft, fluffy and well-seasoned. The beans were served separately in a bowl with a light sauce. For drinks we got a peach margarita and a classic mojito. They were both strong but good. The restaurant was very clean well decorated abd the severs were attentive. We dined around 3 on a Friday afternoon. ”
“ 5 stars across the board! As a foodie who has lived many places and traveled extensively around the world, this is, in my opinion, the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. The service was impeccable and I was immediately greeted and taken care of by the owner, Ivan, and the entire staff. From beginning to end, the food was incredible. Everything is made in house and fresh from scratch. I kicked things off with a Gummy Bear Margarita (so, so good!). I also enjoyed Chips & Salsa with Cheese Dip to start. For my entree I ordered the Chicken Fajitas, and these were hands down some of the best fajitas I have ever had! Check out my pictures of all of the above and you'll see for yourself. I can't say enough about how good the food. The mix of flavors is mouth watering. I promise you cannot go wrong here. If you're in the Highlands area, and love Mexican food, definitely take the time to visit this restaurant. I promise you won't regret it and be sure to tell Ivan hello! Be sure to check out my photos! ”
“ Excellent food!! It was a delicious lunch spot after a day of a morning of hiking. I had the birria quesadilla tacos and they were delicious. Tender meat, crispy cheese, great seasoning. Loved the pickled veggies that came with the meal. Good cut.for the richness. Really great spot! Good, smokey salsa. Crispy chips. Great queso. ”
“ The food here is excellent and we were pleasantly surprised that they have a number of vegetarian options. The salsa has a unique smokey flavor and the entrees were very authentic without being greasy. Would recommend. ”
“ FANTASTIC service and unbeatable food. The portions are large and prices are amazing for what you get. They treat you like family here. We went to 4 different places before we got to Los Vaqueros that all turned us away because the kitchen was closed or they didn’t want to accommodate a large party. This place greeted us with a smile and quickly gave us the best service and food we could’ve asked for. Michelle was fantastic. ”
“ What a gem! We ran across this restaurant while we were out chasing waterfalls and felt like we struck gold! Very nice place and the food was delicious... I’m still thinking about it days later. I would highly recommend the Pollo Loco - it was to die for! ”
